10-02-2015 NOTE:  The Meguiar's Unigrit Discs in P320/P500/P800 have been discontinued.  Please consider using the 3" Mirka Silver Discs instead. They are a bit more money, but much more durable, and can be used wet or dry.

These particular discs are designed to be used dry, and are available in 320 (coarse), 500 (medium), and 800 (fine) grades.

They are ideal for removing scratches and blemishes commonly found on abused or neglected plastic headlight and taillight lenses.

Before you begin, do a test spot by starting with the least aggressive disc first! This will allow you to gauge whether a more aggressive disc is need for the job.

Once you've determined the proper disc as a starting point, use progressively finer grades of discs to refine the finish.  For final sanding, use 1000 grade Unigrit™ Foam Finishing Discs.  If final polishing is to be done using a random orbital or D/A machine, it is wise to sand once again using 3000 grade Unigrit™ Foam Finishing Discs.

Note: Foam Finishing Discs must be used dampened with water.

11-01-2016 NOTE:  The 3" Meguiar's Unigrit Discs have been discontinued. Please consider using the Mirka Film-Backed Silver Discs in P1500, or the Mirka Abralon Foam-Backed Discs in P2000 & P3000.

For spot repairs on automotive paint, the 1500 grade disc will level an excessively textured surface, cut away dirt nibs, and remove surface scratches and scuffs.

If the task at hand requires texture matching of repainted areas as opposed to leveling, give the 1000 grade Foam Finishing Discs a shot instead.  For final sanding regardless the task, follow up with 3000 grade Foam Finishing Discs.

Note: These discs must be used dampened with water.

11-01-2016 NOTE:  The 3" Meguiar's Unigrit Discs have been discontinued. Please consider using the Mirka Abralon Foam-Backed Discs in P2000 & P3000.

These discs feature a soft and pliable foam backing that serves three distinct purposes.

First, the foam helps to better distribute applied pressure across the face of the disc. This ensures a consistent cut of the surface being sanded.

Next, the foam allows the sanding particles to easily conform to complex shapes and curved surfaces. Because of this, Unigrit™ Foam Finishing Discs perform incredibly well for the task of texture matching.

Finally, the foam provides a capillary effect for water distribution and management. It doesn’t just store water…it manages the flow of water, which is essential for lubrication of the sanding surface.

The "on board" water management system also keeps the disc and sanding surface clean, flushing away abraded paint residue and loose particulate as you work.

Note: Unigrit™ Foam Finishing Discs must be used with water.
