One of our best sellers, and for good reason! For starters, this plate features more flexibility than its vinyl backed counterpart (Mirka #106).

The medium density polyurethane foam used as the core of this plate is firm enough to level substrates, but thanks to its flared edge, conformability is good when used on curved surfaces.

Mirka's backing plates are manufactured using a top quality molded polymer construction. This means that the black hub, yellow foam center, and white face are molded together, not glued.

Each plate is balanced to eliminate vibration, so you can work comfortably.

This plate features a soft urethane core that is 9/16" tall, so it's a perfect choice when contouring ability is a must. This is not a flimsy plate, and should last a long time. It feels nice, and works equally well with sanding discs and buffing pads.

At 146 grams (5-1/8 oz.), this plate is heavy compared to plates featuring a similar diameter. The weight can be a plus if you are replacing a larger diameter plate in hopes of using smaller diameter discs or pads (such as when using the currently popular Dynabrade Dual Action Buffing Head).

This particular backing plate is designed for use with Abranet® and Autonet™ discs. It features 52 vacuum holes and is designated as "soft", so it contours to complex or curved shapes quite well.

The face of the plate features a hook material that has been specifically designed for Abranet® and Autonet™ discs, but it works well with virtually any loop-style sanding disc.

Mirka's Abranet HD Discs are stout. They're so tough, they can be used as grinding discs!

To keep them from slinging off at high RPM, you'll want to use this plate. The large-hook attachment material is also ideal for use with non-woven discs, such as Mirka Mirlon, Mirlon Total™, and 3M Scotch-Brite™ discs.

This is a stiffly-backed plate, and is rated for speeds up to 6,000 RPM.

Need a backing plate with more flexibility?  
Check out the Ferro GP-36.  It is soft-backed, and is safe for use up to 4,800 RPM.

Meguiar's has made this model of backing plate for many years, but this is an all-new design. Durability is top notch, thanks to its sturdy one-piece molded construction.

As before, it features a pad alignment plug (located at the center of the face), making it a snap to align buffing pads that utilize a centering hole.

The face of the plate is firm with a minute amount of cushioning, virtually guaranteeing a smooth feel while polishing.

The outer edge has been finessed to allow increased contourability of the pad when used on complex surfaces, or for those times when the pad must be tilted on edge for targeted buffing.
